dirty pup

A dirty pup in October

Since my new job I have been working extremely long hours, the drive home isnt' bad at all, but I have yet to make it to karate since last week, even though I try so hard. This is mainly because I have to come straight home and let the pooch out. I think about him every second I'm gone past oh about 20 minutes. Wondering if he's sleeping, if he needs to go out. Don't fret leo is enrolled in Doggy day care, he no longer goes the to the Mutt hutt anymore, he now is a student at Camp Bow Wow. And they even have doggy cams. Yes my dog is my life, and yes be fearful of the day I have children. I slightly go over board. haha. Today I didn't leave work til 6:15, so I didn't make it home til almost 7:30, so I came home, swooped up Leo and took him to a dog park in Medina. He was like a wild man on the loose. However since we had a flood the past weekend, his white fur was stained brown. So I piled him in my car and we drove home. Once we got home I hosed him down, this was not easy. He hated the cold water. So to sum up my story, he is still muddy under his belly, and I'm thinking eh oh well. I towel dried him off the best I can..I'm thinking he needs a day at the doggy spa soon to get fooooofed. Love my baby!

Leonidas is a gift from God

About twice a week I take Leo to my grandma's rehab center to brighten her spirits. She had been asking for him for a days, and I found out he didn't have to be a therapy dog(which is his on his way to being) for me to bring him into the facility. But before I can even get back to her room, the other patients stop me in the great room ..well they don't stop me, they stop Leo. Just seeing the smiles that cross their faces when he rolls over or licks their hands. It's overwhelming. Sometimes they will talk to me for a good 20 minutes, other times they comment on how handsome he is and how sweet of a dog he is and then go on their way. It hurts my heart to think of these people (young and old) not having people visiting them. I am so overjoyed that I help lift their spirits for a few minutes with the gift of Leo. He truly is a blessing to not just me, but to my family. The same way Fergus was a blessing to our family when Heather was sick. If you are ever questioning getting a dog as a pet, I would say go right ahead and do it. It will be so worth it. Your life will dramatically change, but that will be okay. Its been a difficult road at times raising Leo on my own, but my parents have been fantastic support and helpers and I would be completely lost if Leo wasn't in my life.
